Standing Vigil & RememberingWe begin our vigil at 12 midnight on September 10th, 2011 and will continue until past 12 midnight on September 11th. We remember that “Evil” got up very early on September 11, 2001. These 24 hours are spent in quiet for the most part. There are no speeches or entertainment. You may hear bells tolling, bagpipers lamenting or a song. All are invited to come at a time when it is convenient and comfortable for you. The Church of St. Joseph will always be open during this time. There’s a schedule of St. Joseph Church’s prayers and Mass on this site. People of all faiths and goodwill are invited to pray, as they feel moved to do so. Clergy of all faiths are invited to participate and should see the contact information below. You will find on the grounds of St. Josephs Church a place of Honor set up where the people of September 11th 2001 are remembered with reverence. There are reminders of the tragic events of 9/11/01 on display. The sun will rise on a beautiful American Flag whose grandeur has to be seen to be appreciated. We mark the time of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 in a way hard to ignore. 8:20 A.M. The First Litchfield Artillery Regiment will signal a call to prayer. 8:30 A.M. A Catholic Mass. This year these two moments will pass in silence, prayer and reflection. < 8:45 A.M.
